Martian Child.

It's movies like this that keeps kleenex on the business.

I have read the novel (short novel ata) way back and it touched the heart. Especially since I also have father issues albeit not the one like the movie.

Anyway, the story is about a dude who writes sci-fi novels for a living. He is a widower and he's left with no child from his deceased wife. So, essentially, he is lonely. Then he decides, not listening to his sister's rants about parenting, to adopt one.

One child caught his attention: A child who's firm on his decision that he is a Martian. He sits inside a box all day for he has an ongoing battle with the sun and its glare. After getting a (I don't know the term for this) Trial period from the adoption house, dude decides to take on parenthood to the next level. He really wants this child to be his legally.

Of course, parenthood has its pros and cons, the kid, although smart, has his share of social problems which dude tries to cope with. In time, they grew closer and closer and finally, dude got the ok signal to have the child.

Later, the kid decided that he needs to go back to Mars. This was after having a big fight with dude. In the end...

Well I don't want to spoil it. Just watch the movie, it's good. :)
