Swansong for Potter.

The Potter books, combined, is a sweet amalgam of fun, mystery, and reading pleasures. I have read them some book series - Vampire Chronicles, Dune, Lord of the Rings, but for me, nothing compared to the feeling I had after I finished book 7. Though it pulled a few pages from LOTR, it still gave the story a fresher feel versus the mediocre releases from the previous years.

Once I read a book, I just put it back in my shelf, almost always not bothering to read it again. There are a few books that makes me read it all over again. And the series will be put among those. The series starts off as a simple kid's book - A battle between good and evil with a weak protagonist who has a weapon nobody sees. Though that story line has been consumed by many writers to the point of gluttony, the series made it feel, for lack of an appropriate word - fresh.

I read the first book when I was a kid (Almost 10 years ago), and yes, kids were Jo's first target audience. But as soon as the series progresses, it became more mature, darker and better than the predecessors and what I liked about it is I also grew with the series. As I become more mature, Harry, Ron and Hermione became bolder and better too.

The simple story wove into an intricate masterpiece. The themes were hearty, nice and pleasant. Funny scenes punctuated almost every chapter. Jo's style never gets old. She really is a master of her craft.
The twists were great. And it's great to know that the fan base's theory were almost always correct.

After 7 books, after all those hours I've spent reading it. After the years I've waited. It's done. And it cannot be ended by any other way. The ending was just so spectacular - it almost brought tears to my eyes. At the same time, I was glad - it's finally done. But the excitement of waiting for another release is gone. No more speculating what happens, no more guesses, it is all out - the secrets, the lies, the revelations. The ending was fitting for a great story. And that's all. I could have wished Jo could have written it longer, but I would not. The book was full of action from page 1 up to the last page.

As I close your doors Hogwarts, I want to say thanks for the great piece of literature that will be forever embedded in my life. The past generation had LOTR, and ours has Potter.

As a fan who grew with the series - I could never ask for more.

Thanks you Potter, thank you Jo.

PS
The last Potter book is the best. I don't want it to expand, I don't want it to do some rehases, like some other books (or movies) I know. Ahem, Mr. Lucas. Ahem, Mr.Tolkien. Just stay as a 7-part book.
