Neverwhere Book Review
Done reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman last night. Well, the book is really fresh for me because fantasy books aren't really my cup of tea.
Anyways, the book is about alternate reality that the protagonist, Richard Mayhew didn't thought actually exist. From the reviews, they said that the book is like a modern world Alice in Wonderland, which is true. But in this case, there are no Chesire cats and Rabbits. No cutey-cutey characters. This is like Alice in Wonderland on steroids.
The story is about Richard Mayhew, a typical Londoner - braving everyday work, a not satisfying, high maintenance relationship, and daily personal struggles. He's living his mediocre life when one day he encounters a bloodied girl on the street, being the modern samaritan that he is, he helped the girl shoving his fiancee aside together with their engagement. But helping this girl was only the beginning. Richard then embarks on a quest to fight for his life and to regain his reality back, which in the end, he really doesn't want.
The book, in it's entirety is a good read. Lot's of twists and turns, nice characters that will really grow on you. It is refreshing and it's really a recommended read.
