Digital Fortress - Reviewed.
At long last, i finished Digital Fortress by Dan Brown. I think i spent about six months just to finish it. Hehe, i was too busy with OJT then i had started real work a week after OJT. That's why i never really had time to finish it. Then i managed to read a few chapters again last week, it was the climax, so because of that, i was determined to finish the damn book already.
Ok, so here's my review:
As any Brown fan would expect, the book is filled with twist and turns that will not make you put the book down. (well, as for me, not close the e-book down) Seasoned readers will be astonished on how they can't point the finger on the mastermind of the plot. I kept guessing and guessing until that page where the villain spilled his guts. Well, this book is no Da Vinci Code or Deception Point, but still, Brown has outdone himself again on this one. I can't wait for his new book Solomon Key, soon out on the shelves.
The plot:
NSA, or National Security Agency is America's Information powerhouse. NSA houses all of classified information of America. From componenets of Megaton Nuclear bombs to list of people under Witness protection program. America is standing strong, thanks to this agency. This agency also houses the most powerful computer in existence - TRANSLTR. With TRANSLATR, America is able to snoop all information out of people's hands.
TRANSLATR can break codes that seem impossible to break. With this computer, America can snoop mails, phone calls - name it. And the best part of it, America is able to snoop it all, secretly. All information seems to be on their hands. They can counter attack nuclear strikes, capture fugitives, etc.
So now, NSA recieved a mail from a man nicknamed as NDAKOTA. He said he had created the most powerful decryption tool that even the TRANSLATR cannot break. Strathmore, the director of NSA knew this was farfetched because everyone knows that every code can be broken. This tool was distributed in the internet for free. Strathmore tested it and made the TRANSLATR running for almost 24 hours while the longest time it took their computer in deciphering a code was 16 minutes.
Now, all is in a loss. With this new system, every information is secured and will ensure global chaos. Now, how can NSA prevent this from coming out?
