Isn't it fantastic, telefantastic?
Watched Fantastic 4 last weekend at Glorietta. All I can say is it is (way) better than Spiderman 3. Though I haven't read Fantastic 4 when I was a kid, I was still thrilled. And of course, at the end of the movie, (like all Marvel Movies) there will be an invitable sequel.
It would be nice if we saw Galactus emerge, but hey, I guess it's better if we save that for later. The silver surfer dude was not as cool when he first came out years back, but hey, he still kicks minor ass.
Ok, the story. Like other super heroes, the 4 tries their hardest to juggle super hero antics to their normal life. (or the other way around) This holds especially for the Invisible woman and Mr. Fantastic, who are getting married by the way. Then on the midst of their wedding day, a silver thingy landed from outerspace with a sole mission of destroying earth, blah, blah... you know, the kind that all villains do - make hard for us earthlings.
I don't have a grudge against alien villains but why the hell they always choose earth. Why not Mars? Ok, this destroy-earth mission is because of Galactus, a super villain who controls other villains, or so what the others who really knew Fantastic 4 comics by heart say. Anyways, he controls Silver Surfer, he is a well, Silver man who surfs. I don't know who invented surfing here in earth but aliens seem to have discovered surfing way, way back that they have installed cool blur like effects on their board, installed mechanisms that makes the board (and the surfer) pass through solid materials and stuff.
Ok, so this Silver surfing dude is out to destroy the earth so that his big boss could eat our little green earth. To do this, he has to riddle earth with craters. I don't know why he does this but he is the only one capable of doing so. He does this because Galactus told him and he holds Silver surfer's people hostage or something. Now, imagine that, a planet filled with Silver people surfing on Silver boards that pass through matter. Cool. It's like a planet full of Oscar trophies, only silver.
Of course, in the end, being the heroes that they are, they defeated Dr. Doom (who tried to control the surf thing making him to look more ridiculously stupid) and made the surfer battle against Galactus. Of course, Galactus is super kick ass that he will come back in the Four's third outing.
Anyways, this movie is great. Better than Spiderman! Woo! But I know, if I read F4, I will be pissed at this movie, but hey, it's still great nonetheless.
